I Wish I Could Write From My Soul

“You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true.

You may have to work for it, however.”

from Illusions by Richard Bach

One year ago tomorrow I sent out my first Awaken The Soul Weekly Message.  At that time I had intended to write for several months and see where it would lead.  My distribution was less than half what it is today, but it seemed to reach a wide and diverse audience that has grown each week.

It is hard to believe a year has passed and so many events have taken place.  I discovered a new friend through my writing, only to share eight of the most important months of his life and death referring to it now as my own “Tuesdays With Morrie”.  It has been a tumultuous time for my Executive Mentoring/consulting that has caused many financial ups and downs.  This past year has also been a year of growth in our marriage as we close in on twenty-five years and still there is much to discover about each other as our children begin to move on.  I experienced the challenge and reward of trusting several new friends with parts of my soul that are still being awakened.  Perhaps the event that was less personal and yet very personal at the same time, 9-11.  In all, this past twelve months has been an incredible year for spiritual growth.

Each week I sat down and tried to share with you a part of my own journey in the hope that it would help you become more aware of your own soul’s journey.  Based on the replies from so many people, I was successful in this objective.  Perhaps one of the most meaningful comments came from my own minister who told me before Christmas that my messages had become a weekly devotional to him.  I was humbled and honored for such a learned and talented individual to think I had anything to say to him.

This message now represents the first message of the second year.  My hope is that, like last year, I will continue my journey with an awareness of how each week’s events allow me to live as a soulful person, discover my soul’s purpose, and fulfill my calling.  I accept that sometimes the message will have special meaning to you, while others may not correspond to where you are in your own journey.

This year I must expand Awaken’s purpose to include ongoing Executive Mentoring for individuals or businesses that are seeking a soulful approach to business.  I intend to design, create and conduct periodic workshops open to the public or designed specifically for a particular business.  During the year I hope to become a guest in the pulpit of several churches offering a layperson’s view of daily spirituality.  Finally, I will edit and expand prior messages into a book for publication.

I guess with almost two hundred pages now written in this project of love, it is not a bad start.  It would be meaningless, however, if it did not have an impact on my life and at least a periodic effect on yours.  So as I begin a new year of writing I hope you will continue to be my companion in discovering spirituality each new day.

With respect, acceptance, and love,

Richard
